You can use this image to:
•    Extend your existing WiFi network
•    Learn more about wireless networking
•    Create a free Access Point
•    Build a honeytrap to learn about network-hardening
•    Provide guest wireless access firewalled off/through your main network

To use this image you will need:
•    A Raspberry Pi, model B, B+, Pi2 or Pi3.
•    A boot SD card for the Raspberry Pi.
•    A USB WiFi dongle that supports "Access Point" mode (not required with the Pi3).
•    An Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet.

This project does not require any coding or compilation. Very basic Linux and networking knowledge would be useful, but is not essential.

This image was tested with the popular and cheap wifi dongles Realtek 8188CUS and the Ralink RT5370 that you can buy on ebay for less than $9.00.

To know which wifi dongle you have simply type on the terminal the command "lsusb" to obtain a list of all usb connected devices and you will read
something like this:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:8176 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188CUS 802.11n WLAN Adapter
or this:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT5370 Wireless Adapter

Attention: this image requires a wifi dongle that supports "Access Point" mode. If you are not sure if your Wifi dongle supports this mode then please do not buy this image.

Please understand we cannot support or troubleshoot your specific wifi dongle, nor provide support for your specific custom configurations. We do provide some basic troubleshooting and configuration instructions with this image.
