Turn your Raspberry Pi into a Proxy Server with Internet traffic filtering.
If you use the Internet a lot you are certainly annoyed by ads that pop up or that show everywhere in the pages that you are browsing and if you have kids you are certainly concerned about the dangers of the Internet...
Unfortunately, commercial filtering software is very expensive.
But with this image you can convert your Raspberry Pi into a plug and play open source Proxy server that protects your family from accessing inappropriate content on the Internet and eliminates most of the ads in your normal Internet navigation.
The following blacklists are configured in the Internet filter :
The system automatically updates once a week these blacklists from the public and free repository at MESD (Multnomah Education Service District).
Attention: this image will not block all the possible web sites and adds in the categories identified above, it will only block those identified in the blacklists from the public repository at MESD.
In addition the Proxy server includes 100Mb of cache to speed up your Internet navigation.
To use this image you will need:
• A Raspberry Pi, model B, B+, Pi2 or Pi3.
• A boot SD card for the Raspberry Pi.
• An Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet.
This project does not require any coding or compilation. Very basic Linux and networking knowledge would be useful, but is not essential.
Please note: This is not a physical SD card, this is a preconfigured SD Card Image that you can download and install on the SD card of your choice. The operating systems used and the software provided are Free Open Source.
